Lloyd Leatherman founded DNR leather in 1956,
becoming known as one of Calgary’s original,
most respected, and talented leathersmiths.
Retiring, he chose Kai Luu, another born and raised Calgarian leather craftsman, to apprentice, and then purchase the business.
Kai adds unique advantages for our clients with his own family’s legacy in sewing and apparel - and is honoured to continue in the timeless tradition of master leather artisans, serving Albertans and clients from around the world.
Our story’s all about your cherished leather, done your way.

“I have a vintage leather bag with a worn strap and dried-out panels that I didn’t want ‘over-restored.’ DnR cleaned and conditioned it, repaired the problem areas, and kept the original character intact. It looks refreshed, not brand new—which is perfect.”
Sophie L.
“I needed made-to-measure chaps for riding and wanted them built tough, not ‘one-size-fits-most.’ They nailed the measurements, the hardware feels solid, and the finish is clean and professional. Exactly what I was hoping for—and they fit like they’re supposed to.”
Mark R.
“Brought in my leather jacket that never fit quite right through the shoulders and sleeves. DnR took the time to pin it properly, explain the options, and dial in the fit without messing up the look. It feels custom now—and way more comfortable on the bike.”
